Embrace Difference’s WA Chapters latest event was built around “Embracing Connectivity”.
It was another sold out event with more than 80 people in attendance representing suppliers, associations, and retailers. It was held at one of Perth’s best new venues “The Baby Shoe” which was the perfect location for what was a lively interactive event.
The event started with an introduction detailing the change from “Women In Drinks” to our newly named Embrace Difference and communicating our overarching purpose: “To establish a drinks industry as a destination of choice by facilitating awareness, challenging perceptions and building practise that attract, develop and retain talent.”
The event moved into a speed networking session which gave attendees the opportunity to spend 20 minutes getting to know a new industry colleague. The aim was to share experiences, bounce ideas, discuss challenges, and form alliances with colleagues at similar or different stages of their careers.
The ultimate aim was for attendees to grow through connecting and learn a little about each other and the
challenges and opportunities they face every day. This process prompted lively discussions creating an electric atmosphere.
Following the speed networking session some key WA industry representatives shared their experiences, including Bernard Hughes State Manager for Asahi, Leigh Taylor the On Premise State Manager for Redbull and venue co-owner Jo Higgins.
After the panel the room continued to converse and communicate which was the ultimate aim of this event, with new connections made and challenges and opportunities shared.
Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with the opportunity to make new connections with industry peers highly valued.
