The Liquor Stores Association of Western Australia (LSAWA) has warmly welcomed the appointment of Lanie Chopping as the new Director General of the Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety which includes oversight of local government, racing, gaming and liquor regulation.
Ms Chopping brings a wealth of experience to the role, having already made significant contributions to improving regulatory frameworks and stakeholder engagement across the sector.
LSAWA Chief Executive Officer Peter Peck congratulated Ms Chopping on behalf of the state’s packaged liquor industry.
“Lanie’s appointment is a testament to her deep understanding of the complex regulatory landscape in Western Australia,” Mr Peck said.
“She has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to collaborative reform, and we’re confident she’ll bring the same level of integrity, transparency and fairness to this new role having previously served as Director General at DLGSC”.
“Lanie has always listened to industry concerns while ensuring community standards remain front and centre. Her leadership will be instrumental in progressing policies that strike the right balance,” Mr Peck said.
The LSAWA looks forward to continued collaboration with Ms Chopping and her team as they lead critical areas that impact the retail liquor industry and the broader WA community.
