Con’s Liquor in Geraldton has been crowned WA Liquor Store of the Year at the 30th annual WA Liquor Industry Awards, proudly presented by Lion at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Perth on Friday night.
Hosted by the Liquor Stores Association of Western Australia (LSA WA), the prestigious event recognizes excellence and achievement across the state’s independent packaged liquor industry.
The awards celebrate not only business performance but also the vital contribution local liquor stores make to their communities. Con’s Liquor Geraldton took out both the Regional Liquor Store of the Year and the overall WA Liquor Store of the Year titles, a testament to their outstanding service, community engagement, and commitment to the industry.
De Vine Cellars Inglewood was recognized as Metropolitan Liquor Store of the Year, highlighting their ongoing dedication to quality and customer experience in the Perth metro area.
The Life Member Award was presented to Lou Spagnolo, the longest-serving President of the Liquor Stores Association of WA, whose leadership and advocacy have shaped the industry over decades.
The Community Service Award went to WA Police which was recognized for its innovation around online retail theft reporting which is resulting in improved community safety and collaboration with the liquor industry.
Liquor Stores Association WA CEO Peter Peck said the 30th anniversary of the awards was a milestone moment for the industry.
“This year marks three decades of recognizing the passion, hard work and resilience that defines our members. Every finalist and winner represents the best of small business and community spirit in Western Australia’s retail liquor sector.”
Racing and Gaming Minister Paul Papalia congratulated all winners and finalists, acknowledging their role in supporting local jobs and fostering safe, responsible retail environments.
“These stores are more than just places to buy a bottle of wine or beer — they’re part of our local fabric, employing locals and giving back to their communities,” he said. Three hundred guests attended this year’s event, which celebrated both the industry’s achievements and its long-standing contribution to Western Australian communities.
Deborah Jackson, the managing editor of National Liquor News took out the Media Award, while Victoria Williams from Greenfields Liquor Stores scooped the Employee of the Year award.
